Sutton Kersh finishes the year with a bang

Merseyside’s leading property auction house ended its most successful year to date with a major auction of over 140 properties this week.

There was a large turnout for the final Sutton Kersh auction of 2016 – which raised over £1.6 million prior to the auction and over £5 million in total.

As expected lot 23, an impressive five-bedroomed property in Kensington, and lot 38, a three-storey property in Gateacre, beat their guide prices – £150,000 and £200,000.

Also among the high flyers was lot 92, a ten-bedroomed former residential care home, sold for £146,000 – £36,000 over the guide price. However, it was lot 43, a three-storey property converted into three self contained flats, that was at the top of the tree, selling for £156,000 -56% more than the guide price.

Cathy Holt, Associate Director at Sutton Kersh, said: “December’s auction was one of the biggest of the year with investment properties both in Merseyside and further afield.

“We sold 70% of properties and raised over £6 million. It’s great to end a successful 2016 on a real high.

“It has been an exceptional year at auction despite the Brexit vote and the introduction of stamp duty on second properties.

“In spite of these challenges we have raised over £46 million and sold more than 600 properties this year, 137 more than we sold in 2015. Every one of our auctions this year has seen a huge volume in sales, and there is no doubt we are the largest and most successful property auction house on Merseyside.”

Sutton Kersh has extended its geographical reach this year, and auctions have catalogued lots from Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester as well as North Wales.

Cathy said: “We’re all looking forward to the Christmas break but when we come back we’ll be ready for another successful year in 2017.”

Sutton Kersh’s next auction will be held on the 9th February 2017 at The Crowne Plaza, Liverpool. For more information, visit www.suttonkersh.co.uk/auctions or call 0151 207 6315.
