UK inflation has climbed to its highest level this year after rising for the third consecutive month.<\/p>\n
The rate of inflation increased from 3.1% to 3.5% in September, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).<\/p>\n
The increase was slightly higher than economists had forecast, with a rise to 3.4% expected.<\/p>\n
Rising fuel prices were among the main factors pushing inflation higher during the month, as pressure on global supplies intensified amid conflict in the Middle East and the continuing Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n
Diesel prices reached a record level during September, adding to costs for motorists and businesses reliant on road transport.<\/p>\n
