Archangels has appointed Andrew Sealey as chair of its board.<\/p>\n
He has been an investor since the syndicate was established in 1992, and on its board since 2021. He takes over from Ian Macleod, who has been chair since 2022 and on the board since 2018.<\/p>\n
Sealey is non-executive chair of Lazard CL, a division of Lazard formed through its 2026 acquisition of Campbell Lutyens and merger with its own global private capital advisory group.<\/p>\n
He originally joined Campbell Lutyens in 1990, taking over responsibility for the management of the firm in 2003 and remaining as chief executive until he stood down in 2024 to become part-time chair. Sealey is also on the investment committee of Greater Share, a philanthropic private equity firm.<\/p>\n

So far in 2026, Archangels has invested \u00a327.8m in nine new and existing portfolio companies based in Scotland, comprising \u00a311.1m from members and \u00a316.7m from co-investment partners, including backing for University of Edinburgh spin-outs Biocaptiva and Bioliberty.<\/p>\n
The Edinburgh based syndicate was founded in 1992, making it the longest active angel group in the world.
