Newquay housing development approved

Persimmon's planned scheme at Trevemper, Newquay

Persimmon has secured planning permission from Cornwall Council for 187 homes in Newquay.

30% of the scheme – 56 homes – will be allocated to a local housing association provider.

The proposed development is on the A392 in Trevemper, opposite the Morrisons supermarket. It will have a range of properties from one-bed apartments to five-bed homes.

Robbie Brown, technical director for Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon, said: “Through the construction of 187 quality new homes for local people, this site will deliver substantial social and economic benefits, playing an important role in the growth and aspirations of Newquay as one of Cornwall’s key settlements.”

Persimmon’s plans include public open space, play area, infrastructure improvements and a new three-metre wide strategic footpath/cycle way.

The developer will also pay £565,000 to Cornwall Council through the Community Infrastructure Levy for local improvements.

Earlier this month Persimmon secured approval on its reserved matters application for a 404-home development in Helston, Cornwall.
