The driving force behind one of the biggest regeneration schemes carried out in Bristol is to speak at TheBusinessDesk.com networking lunch.

Louise Mitchell CBE, chief executive, Bristol Beacon

Louise Mitchell CBE, is the Bristol Beacon’s current chief executive.

She led the organisation through the once-in-a-generation transformation, of the city’s concert venue.

Louise has been at the helm since the music charity, Bristol Music Trust, was established by Bristol City Council in May 2011 to run the concert venue.

Louise was named Leader of The Year at the first ever Leadership Awards held in the South West by the TheBusinessdesk.com. Louise was also named Public & Third Sector Leader of the Year at the event.

She has led the Trust’s mission to put music at the heart of Bristol life and developed a diverse and inclusive music programme giving people across the city the opportunity to experience, watch and participate in live music. She also navigated the charity through the Covid pandemic and the ambitious building transformation, which saw the venue closed for four years.

Louise is recognised nationally and internationally for her work as a leader in the arts, in a career that has spanned more than four decades.

Prior to moving to Bristol in 2011, she worked for many years in Scotland, including as director of Glasgow’s Concert Halls for 13 years.

From there, she was appointed to the role of director of Glasgow UNESCO City of Music after it was awarded the title in 2008, where she was responsible for ensuring the city maximised the international profile and opportunities that came with the award.

She has also held senior positions at prestigious organisations including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Barbican Centre and Edinburgh International Festival.
