Profits fall sharply at Gloucestershire food producer

Gloucestershire food ingredients firm Newberry International Produce has announced a strong rise in sales.

However profits for the period fell from £1.03m to £570,417.

Newberry was established in 1995 and specialises in suppling of frozen fruit and other ingredients.

The business distributes more than 25 million fruit sachets to customers across the world.

For the year to 28 February 2023, the company reported turnover of £45.3m compared to £30.3m last year.

Newberry said its growth was achieved as a result of the post-pandemic recovery of the international smoothie market.

The company has helped key customers expand their frozen fruit retail ranges in the UK and Europe through a focus on quality, price and product innovation.

Newberry continued to invest in personnel and infrastructure to “deliver longer term growth plans”.

A spokesperson for the firm said: “We’re excited to be moving into our state of the art new production facility in January 2024 which will dramatically increase UK manufacturing capacity and drive efficiencies to deliver the next stage of growth over the coming years.”
