Swindon Town charged after undisclosed sale of stake in the club

Football club Swindon Town and its owner Clem Morfuni have been charged with breaching league rules after it failed to declare a “significant interest” share acquisition in the League Two club.

Hollie Kiely, of Swinton Reds 20 Ltd, acquired a 17.1% stake in September 2022. However Morfuni, who took over the club in July 2021, failed to tell the club’s management and consequently the EFL. Clubs must disclose to the League details of any shareholder with more than 10% of voting rights.

The share transfer came to light following its publication at Companies House in August 2023.

Swindon Town said it would not be commenting beyond confirming it had been charged.
