Wealth management firm announces key appointments

Wealth management and professional services group Evelyn Partners has announced the appointment of Helen Bassett as the new professional services managing partner of its Bristol office.

The group also announces that it has appointed Chris Marsden as a partner in the Bristol restructuring and recovery team.

Both appointments come as Evelyn Partners prepares to relocate later this year from its current Bristol premises at Portwall Place to the prestigious new EQ development next door.

Helen has been with the group for more than 20 years, having joined the Bristol office of what was Solomon Hare in 2000 as an apprentice.

She is an accountancy business services adviser who supports high growth, entrepreneurial businesses. Skilled in accounting related outsourcing compliance and advisory, Helen is a specialist adviser to both tech and global businesses.

In her new role, Helen will lead the professional services team in Bristol and work closely with Richard Mikdadi and John Davies who respectively lead the office’s financial planning and investment management teams. Helen succeeds Nigel Hardy who will remain as an audit Partner in the Bristol office.

Chris Marsden is an experienced business restructuring specialist and joins Evelyn Partners from BDO in Bristol where he spent more than four years as a partner in the business restructuring team. Prior to that he held senior positions at Moore Stephens and EY.

Andrew Wilkes, chief professional services director at Evelyn Partners, said: “I’m very pleased that Helen has agreed to lead our growing professional services team in Bristol.

“Helen has made an enormous contribution since joining the group more than 20 years ago and I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to develop and expand our business in the South West.

“We are committed to further strengthening our team in Bristol and the ability for us to attract new partners with the experience of Chris Marsden is testimony to our reputation in the region.”

Helen Bassett said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to lead the Bristol professional services team at such an exciting time for the office as we prepare to gear up to re-locate to the EQ development. I would like to thank Nigel for his leadership of the Bristol office over the past three and a half years and look forward to continuing to work closely with him in my new role.

“I am proud to work alongside a talented team in Bristol and in my new role am committed to ensuring that our people have the opportunities to continue developing in their careers. We are also continuing to invest in hiring additional experienced practitioners to support our growth ambitions in the region and to that effect I’m very pleased to welcome Chris Marsden to our Bristol office.”
