Software accountancy firm to target new growth in coming year

A Bristol based cloud-based accountancy software provider, is targeting new business sectors and the greater use of machine learning in its platforms to unlock new growth in 2024 and beyond.

Symmetry, which was established in 1996 following an management buyout from tech giant Oracle UK, has carved out a sector-leading role within its niche built on product innovation and customer satisfaction.

With a strong tradition in the education sector, Symmetry has branched out into new sectors with its accounting platform which operates under the brand name bluQube.

The platform already incorporates machine learning elements in its operations, and these are expected to grow with new product development in the coming years.

In recent years, the company has diversified its client portfolio winning more work in sectors such as logistics, charities, and housing.

“In recent months, transport & logistics has become a critical growth area for us, and we expect that to continue throughout 2024,” said marketing director Sophie Wilkins who was appointed to the company board earlier this year.

She added: “We are closely looking at other sectors where we can see that our products and service approach are aligned with requirements on the client side. One of the key things we’ve seen change over the years is how we’ve become much more embedded with our clients rather than just providing them with a system. Our client relationships have become far less transactional and more of an integrated arrangement. We can provide them with solutions which make them more efficient and responsive. It’s a powerful place to be.

“Alongside this, we are constantly looking for ways to develop our product to stay one step ahead. We cannot stand still and expect clients to stay with us just out of tradition. We need to innovate, challenge, and anticipate what our clients’ need almost before they know themselves.

“Our development team are building new capabilities all the time and these are increasingly utilising the opportunities afforded by AI and machine learning.”

Earlier this year the company produced a research report investigating the effectiveness, take up and fears associated with the development of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

The award-winning company, which is based in Pill, is approaching the end of its financial year and last year reported record turnover of £2.2m.
