A leading sports nutrition brand has landed a partnership deal with one of the world’s top cycling teams.

Precision Fuel & Hydration (PF&H), which works with some of the biggest names in world sport, will develop personalised fuelling and hydration strategies for Lotto Dstny, which competes in major cycling events, including the Tour de France.

The Dorest-based firm, which has worked with World Cup football squads, Premier League clubs, Olympic athletes and Wimbledon tennis aces and many other of the world’s top sports stars, will also provide its exclusive fuelling and hydration products to help the team realise its full potential during training and competitions during the 2023 season.

The company, which is led by former elite endurance athlete and renowned sports scientist Andy Blow, will also provide its patented sweat test technology to identify each rider’s sweat rate and content to inform their individual hydration needs.

Blow said: “We’re really excited to be working with Lotto Dstny and have been extremely impressed so far with the team’s attention to detail and their dedication to perfecting their fuelling and hydration strategies so that they can perform at their best when it counts.”

Lotto Dstny’s star rider Victor Campenaerts, who broke Sir Bradley Wiggins’ World Hour Record for cycling in 2019, played a key role in introducing PF&H to the team after the Belgian started using the brand’s products, which include energy gels, chews, carb drink mix, electrolyte tablets and electrolyte capsules.

Lotto Dstny head nutritionist Gino Devriendt said: As nutritionists, we are very happy to have Precision Fuel & Hydration on board.

“PF&H’s science-based products will help our riders during their races and training rides. The drinks, energy gels, chews and electrolyte tablets are all easily absorbed by the body.

“But the most important to us, are the possibilities to personalise our riders’ nutrition. They are willing to listen and adapt to our input, together with the specialists of the University of Ghent. We will all benefit from this collaboration.”

PF&H has an illustrious history in the cycling world, having previously developed hydration strategies for fellow Tour de France hopefuls Team DSM.

PF&H director Jonny Tye said the firm is looking forward to helping the team reach their potential over the coming season – and is planning to grow its product range for cyclists.

“We’re already developing a new product in collaboration with the team, based on feedback from the riders, performance staff and soigneurs,” he said. “We are confident we will have a positive impact on the team’s performance.”

Since launching in 2011, PF&H works with an array of sports stars such as Wolverhampton Wanderers men’s and women’s teams, Olympian and British 5,000m and half marathon record holder Eilish McColgan, former Wimbledon finalist Kevin Anderson and US sports teams in the NBA, NFL and MLB.

Having begun as a sports hydration brand, PF&H introduced its exclusive PF fuelling range in 2022.
