Insurance firm appoints trio to senior management team

Insurance firm Partners& has created three new senior leadership roles, as it positions itself for the next stage of its growth plan.

All three roles have been appointed from within the existing team, highlighting the depth of leadership talent that the business has established since its launch in 2020.

Ewan MacDonald has been appointed chief executive – North to lead the insurance broking business and wider trading teams in the North and Scotland region, and Lee Davey has been appointed chief executive – South to lead the insurance broking business and wider trading teams in the South & Midlands, incorporating existing regional businesses in the South-East, South-West, and Midlands.

Ramzan Ghafoor has been appointed chief operating officer (Client Service) with a remit to create the most distinctive and client centric service and claims offering, and service culture in the market, fulfilling the business’ ambition to become the best advisory business in the UK. Each of these roles will report to Phil Barton, Group chief executive.

Ewan MacDonald, previously managing partner for the North and Scotland regions, and Lee Davey, formerly managing partner for the South-West region will be jointly responsible for driving growth, building collaboration, and enabling seamless advice across the business.

From the unique position of having brought his business, MacDonald Group, into Partners&, Ewan’s strong commercial and leadership skills will be instrumental in delivering the Group’s ambitious plans.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be working alongside Lee and leading our teams to outstanding success. I’m a firm believer in the adage that when you surround yourself with great people, great things happen. We’re fortunate to have a fantastic, combined leadership team who are set to take our business forward.”

As one of the original founders of Partners&, Lee’s insight, broking experience, and fantastic people skills will significantly influence the performance of the business. He said: “People are at the core of what we do at Partners&. Working with Ewan, we’re going to remain laser focused on ensuring we create the right environment for our people to deliver first class personal service and advice for our clients – first time and every time. That is what will propel us to achieve our goal of being the best insurance and risk advisory business in the UK.”

Ramzan Ghafoor, previously National Client Service Partner, will be responsible for codifying what it means to receive excellent client service and successfully implementing this proposition across the business. He said: “Creating this role puts client service at the heart of our operation, which many businesses fail to do. As a challenger brand, client service remains core to our purpose. We aim to create a unique client experience – from the first day we engage with clients through to the ultimate test of our value – the claims experience. I’m thrilled to be spearheading this critical aspect of our business.”

Phil Barton, group chief executive of the South West firm, said: “I’m delighted with these appointments, all of which reflect the fantastic talent we have attracted and developed in our business. Lee, Ewan and Ramzan have the skills, drive, and vision to deliver our ambitious plan and turbo charge the next stage of Partners&’s development. It’s an exciting time for Partners& as we continue to challenge what it means to be a leading insurance advisory business in our world today.”=
