Metro mayors join forces on election trail

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham was on the campaign trail in the South West this week.

The Labour mayor met up with his West of England counterpart Dan Norris.

Dan Norris is standing in the North East Somerset and Hanham constituency in the General Election.

He is hoping to take the seat from the high profile Conservative Jacob Rees-Mogg.

The senior Labour figures said they have tunnel vision when it comes to 4 July election as nothing has been decided yet and that a change of government will only come if residents vote for it.

Dan Norris said: “I’m thrilled to welcome my colleague and friend Andy Burnham to North East Somerset and Hanham as we enter the last stretch of this really important General Election campaign. He tells me the eyes of the country are on our contest here.

“Every single independent poll says it’s between Labour and the Conservatives here. So if you want to stop Rees-Mogg, vote Labour,”
