Town centre cordoned off following bomb threat
Part of Swindon town centre was closed off on Saturday due to a hoax bomb threat.
Wiltshire Police said officers were called to The Parade in Swindon at about 9.30pm on Saturday evening.
Wiltshire police said a 100 metre cordon was put in place and a package was assessed and dealt with by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
Police carried out a controlled explosion as a precaution and the cordon was lifted in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 41-year-old man from Southrop, Gloucestershire, was arrested following the incident.
The force added that a protest was held in the same part of Swindon earlier in the day but the two incidents were not connected.
