Civil service hub plans to progress in Bristol
The Cabinet Office is to progress plans for a hub at Temple Quay House in Bristol as part of the ongoing reorganisation of the civil service.
There are also investments in sites in Manchester and Darlington, as well as Whitehall, as part of Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Budget.
Following a trend of more recent Budgets, and in part a response to the increased role of metro-mayors in the regions, there is less focus on local and regional projects within the Chancellor’s speech.
However for the South West, what was not said was as important. Greater Manchester and West Midlands combined authorities will move towards an integrated mayoral settlement this year, and North East, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Liverpool City Region will be “eligible” to receive a settlement from 2026-27.
