Holiday firm becomes B Corp certified

Cornwall-based Sapphire Holidays, known for its collection of self-catering holiday letting agencies, has announced its official certification as a B Corporation – the globally recognised standard for ethical business practices and social and environmental responsibility.
The accreditation spans Sapphire Holidays and each of its five main brands; Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats, Classic Cottages, Unique Hideaways and Pure.
Simon Tregoning, owner and chairman of Sapphire Holidays, said: “Our B Corporation certification means a great deal to us as a family-run business and acknowledges the thought, values and efforts of the entire team in the way we operate.
“It’s something which we’ve embedded in everything we do, from how we treat our employees and customers to how we support our community, contribute to a sustainable economy in Cornwall and celebrate and protect our beautiful environment.”
With more than 190 employees, most of whom are based in Cornwall, Sapphire Holidays manages a portfolio of some 2,700 holiday properties across the UK, generating over £60m in holiday bookings annually.
In keeping with its commitment to sustainable growth, Sapphire Holidays is currently embarked on a £2m project to transform a former industrial site on Hayle Business Park into new, high-tech, low-carbon offices. Scheduled for completion later this year, this development will complement the nearby Sapphire House built in 2020 and provide additional space for its expanding team.
The project at the former Orion Precision Castings building will see the site recycled into a modern energy efficient office, reusing where possible materials on site including retaining the original steelwork and concrete footprint of the building. It will feature ground source heating, a huge array of 132 solar panels on the roof plus battery storage which together will power the building, eight new electric car charging bays in its car park and deliver surplus renewable energy into the National Grid.
