Plans approved for luxury holiday park near Newquay despite opposition

Controversial plans for a 400 lodge holiday resort in Cornwall have been approved again despite opposition.
The approval comes as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner dismissed a request by concerned residents to call in plans to build the resort on over 70 hectares of agricultural land on the outskirts of Newquay
The application by Kingsley Leisure Developments was originally approved by Cornwall Council in November 2024, but received more than 350 objections.
Campaigners against the project urged Rayner, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities & Local Government, to override the decision but she dismissed the requests, saying she was content that it should be determined by the local planning authority.
As a result of that decision, the council has again granted its approval.
