400 staff take ownership at Parsons Bakery

"We own it" - Parsons Bakery has become an EOT

Parsons Bakery is to share the dough with its 400 employees after it became an employee ownership trust.

The South West bakery is 100 years old next year and the decision by the third generation of the family owners to transfer the business to its workforce will keep the company independent.

“This isn’t just about ownership – it’s about securing the future of Parsons Bakery for the people who make it special” said Nick Parsons.

“For generations, our family has been at the heart of this business, but we’ve always known that our employees are what truly make it thrive. Now, as we take a step back, we do so knowing Parsons is in the best possible hands – those of the people who bake, serve and keep it running every day.”

Parsons Bakery started in Clevedon and opened its second shop in Nailsea. It now has 48 stores in and around the South West and South Wales regions.

Nick and Nicola Parsons stepped back from daily operations a few years ago, continuing to support the team and new management with a carefully phased transition.
