Unite’s £723m takeover of rival Empiric faces scrutiny from competition watchdog
Student accommodation group Unite’s £723m takeover of smaller rival Empiric could come under scrutiny by the The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The competition regulator said it was gathering information on the acquisition.
Interested parties are invited to share their views on the impact it could have on lettings competition in the UK.
The regulator said the invitation to comment is the first step ahead of a potential formal investigation into the deal. Submissions must be made by September 30.
