Housebuilder to provide almost £8m for local services as part of Cribbs Causeway development

Almost £8m is to be spent on services and infrastructure in the Bristol area as a result of Bellway’s Berwick Green housing development.

The housebuilder is delivering 256 homes at the site off Cribbs Causeway on the edge of the city.

The cash provided by Bellway through its planning agreement for the development will be used to fund local education, roads, sports facilities, and transport.

Land has also been set aside for new and improved facilities for Bristol Saracens Rugby Club, which neighbours the Bellway development, under the planning agreement with South Gloucestershire Council.

Tim Lund, sales director for Bellway South West, said: “This is a major investment in the area and will support infrastructure and services to benefit the people who come and live at Berwick Green as well as the wider community.

“We are making a big commitment to the area, not only in terms of this significant financial investment in local infrastructure, but also through the provision of much-needed homes built to the high standard of a five-star housebuilder. Plans are already in the pipeline for a second phase of Berwick Green as we have submitted an application to build a further 153 homes.

“The location here is also perfect for anyone who needs to commute into Bristol or go further afield as it’s not far from the city or the M5. Shops and entertainment are also nearby as the new community will be in a prime position to drop into The Mall at Cribbs Causeway.”
