US private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners has reached agreement to acquire Gooch & Housego, the Ilminster, Somerset-based photonics engineering company, in a deal valuing the business at £346m. Arlington had previously made a series of unsolicited proposals to G&H's board, which were rejected. Shareholders will receive 1,230p per share in cash, representing a 41% premium to last night's closing share price.
