Hotel reopens following £2.6m revamp

A hotel and conference centre in Swindon has reopened after at £2.6m makeover.

Lydiard Park was relaunched this week at a grand unveiling which was attended by over 130 local businesses and suppliers.

Guests from local companies including Zurich, Great Western Railway, Arkell’s Brewery and Intel, were treated to tours of the new hotel and conference centre, which has recently undergone an extensive £2.6m makeover.

The project included a major refurbishment of the hotel’s 32 bedrooms, reception, conferencing suite and the creation of the new Palm Bar and restaurant.

Set within the historic country estate on the western edge of Swindon, Lydiard Park Hotel offers business and leisure overnight stays, weddings, private functions and corporate events.

Thirty-two bedrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment, featuring new bathrooms, luxury furnishings, and amenities.

Double, family and twin rooms are now available to book online, in addition to an executive suite with views across the park landscape.

The new Palm Bar and restaurant is now open to hotel guests and park visitors.

The hotel’s largest function room, the Luxborough, has been remodelled into a modern open-plan, spacious area for events, conferences and special occasions with its own dedicated private bar.

Boasting a 140-seat capacity and views towards the Grade I Lydiard House and Estate Lake, the space integrates perfectly within the new development and will be the go to venue for weddings, conferences and celebrations.

Jim Robbins, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, said: “The transformation of the hotel and conference centre has been outstanding and I’m so pleased to finally see the launch of the new Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

“Alongside works that have already been completed, this project is part of an ongoing programme to ensure this much-loved site is self-sustainable, which will protect its future as a publicly owned, Council-run asset.”
