Meridian Hotels swoops for converted country house

Marsh Farm Hotel, a converted Grade II listed country house in Wiltshire, has been sold to Meridian Hotels.

Situated on the outskirts of the market town of Royal Wootton Bassett, the hotel comprises 50 en-suite bedrooms, offering views of the private gardens and surrounding open countryside, lounge bar, glasshouse restaurant and seven conference rooms.

The hotel has proved popular as a wedding venue, offering three reception rooms and a self-contained banqueting suite.

Matthew Smith, hotels partner at Knight Frank, said: “Our marketing campaign generated considerable interest for Marsh Farm Hotel, and we are pleased to have now sold Meridian Hotels their fourth hotel in as many years following their three previous purchases through Knight Frank, which were the Holiday Inn Sittingbourne, Stanton House Hotel Wiltshire and The Bentley Hotel in Lincoln.

“Meridian Hotels will embark on a refurbishment of the hotel and reposition the business, and we are excited to see how the hotel will be transformed under their ownership.”

Paul Evans, Meridian Hotels, said: “We welcome the team at Marsh Farm Hotel in to our family of hotels and we are looking forward to working with them. We will be reaching out to the local community and excited to welcome both new and existing guests to the hotel.”

The hotel was sold off a guide price of £2m.
