Training centre launches with multimillion-pound funding package

A Gloucestershire-based business has opened a state-of-the-art specialist training centre for NHS and healthcare providers after securing a multimillion-pound finance package.

Eastwood Park, a specialist training and conference centre, which was established over 53 years ago in Falfield, near Wotton-under-Edge, has used the HSBC UK loan to fund the construction and development of a new training centre, which was opened by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal.

The 3,000 sq m centre was designed so healthcare professionals can train in ‘real-life’ simulated environments.

The training centre boasts a live operating theatre, medical gas pipeline system, three types of lifts, high and low voltage labs as well as a large decontamination lab – all supported by nine classrooms and a café.

John Thatcher, CEO at Eastwood Park, said: “It was a very proud day to see the training centre officially opened, as the project has been almost a decade in the making and a culmination of a lot of hard work. Now we’ve hit this milestone, we’re looking forward to continuing to expand our product range and create dedicated accommodation facilities for our training delegates in the coming years.

“We’re so grateful for HSBC UK’s support in completing the technical fit-out of the training centre, particularly our relationship manager at the Bank, Nick Taylor, who was extremely helpful throughout the process.”

David Butler, area director at HSBC UK South West, added: “It was an honour to be invited to the opening of the training centre and get a tour of the brand new facilities at Eastwood Park. The training centre will be instrumental in training NHS and healthcare providers, benefitting the industry as a whole.”

The expansion of the centre has seen Eastwood Park’s workforce increase from 50 to 65 employees.
