Bitcoin-focused Smarter Web Company introduces weekly dividend through £10m share offer
The Smarter Web Company has raised £10m by floating a new class of preferred shares that pay investors a 12% annual dividend every week.
The bitcoin-focused digital services firm issued 111,112 preferred shares at £90 each, with retail investors putting in £7.6m and institutions £2.4m.
Chief executive Andrew Webley said: “With what we believe to be the first weekly dividend paid by a London-listed commercial company, we are demonstrating that the UK can lead in financial innovation and that the UK capital markets remain open for business.” He added that he was delighted by the strong retail investor participation.
The first dividend, of £0.2301 per share, has a record date of 23 October and will be paid by 9 November. The shares carry no voting rights but have a liquidation preference and can be redeemed by the company.
The company will put £4m of the proceeds into bitcoin for its treasury reserves, £3.85m into working capital, including dividend payments, and £0.5m into growing the operating business.
Smarter Web runs web design, development and digital marketing businesses serving more than 500 client websites, and holds bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset.
Separately, the company raised a further £579,000 by selling 838,000 ordinary shares at about 69p each under a subscription agreement announced in December 2025, and £66,300 from the exercise of 2.65m warrants at 2.5p each. Webley and his spouse hold 25.8m of the 29.0m warrants still outstanding. The company now has 378m ordinary shares in issue.
