Chief exec of sports foundation steps down

Former Bristol Rugby player and the chief executive of the Bristol Sport Foundation Ben Breeze is stepping down from his role.

Breeze has been in the role for two decades and is well-known on the Bristol sports scene.

He said: “This is not a decision I have taken lightly but I feel the time is right to move on. I’ve been involved with Bristol for nearly thirty years. From my earliest playing days representing the club in the nineties, to having the opportunity to return post-playing career and set up Bristol Rugby’s first community foundation.”

He said: “To then be offered the chance in 2014 to create something truly unique – that of the Bristol Sport Foundation, was a real privilege. It has been incredible to be part of the establishment and running of two wonderful community foundations that have had such a positive effect on the city. Two organisations that I will always hold close to my heart.

“I’d like to thank everyone that has been part of my journey and I look forward to watching both BSF and Bears Community Foundation continue to flourish and grow.

Bristol Sport Foundation Chair Theresa Kingston said: “Ben has been a wonderful servant to not just the rugby club, but Bristol Sport Foundation and the group as a whole.

“His commitment, energy and drive have been instrumental in creating the organisation that BSF is today and its mission to inspire the communities of Bristol to lead active, healthy and happy lives.

“On behalf of the Lansdown family and BSF I’d like to thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best for his future endeavours.”
