Software Cornwall is to rebrand after as Tech Cornwall after receiving a significant grant from the government’s Good Growth Programme.

The organisation, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, has received £453,700. The fund is managed by Cornwall Council and backed by the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Niki Davies, director at Tech Cornwall, said: “Tech Cornwall is for the thinkers, the doers and the ones who are quietly pioneering. It’s for the local tech community, who have the power to make a positive difference within Cornwall, our incredible home.

“Tech Cornwall is for the community, and by the community – the evolution of the brand is a clear reflection of that.”

Tech Cornwall will once again be hosting tech startup conference Slush in September, building up to the flagship event held in Helsinki.

Cllr Louis Gardner, Cornwall Council’s portfolio holder for economy, said: “Huge congratulations to the Tech Cornwall team – through funding initiatives such as this, we demonstrate our commitment to helping Cornwall become a prime hub for tech business, both locally and nationally.

“It puts a spotlight on Cornwall’s thriving tech industry and will work to inspire individuals to explore career pathways and help bolster our local economy in the long term.”
