{"id":16989,"date":"2024-10-24T07:51:31","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T06:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/south-west\/?p=16989"},"modified":"2024-10-24T07:51:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T06:51:31","slug":"engineering-works-to-cause-week-of-travel-disruption-for-train-passengers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/south-west\/news\/16989-engineering-works-to-cause-week-of-travel-disruption-for-train-passengers","title":{"rendered":"Engineering works to cause week of travel disruption for train passengers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Engineering work in the Bath area will cause significant disruption next week while essential maintenance takes place.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail is repairing a bridge at Limpley Stoke and replacing track through St Anne\u2019s Tunnel, with overnight and weekend road closures in place.<\/p>\n<p>Rail passengers will be affected with no train services between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads, including Keynsham and Oldfield Park, from Monday-Thursday next week.<\/p>\n<p>Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will use an alternative route and will not stop at Chippenham or Bath Spa, while there will be a reduced train service between London Paddington and Bath Spa via Chippenham.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists travelling between Bristol and Bath are also being warned to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during this period, with essential gas works taking place near the A4 Globe roundabout 25 Oct \u2013 3 Nov.<\/p>\n<p>While no road closures are needed, the A4 Globe Roundabout will be controlled by temporary signals, with long delays expected.<\/p>\n<p>Lead portfolio manager for Network Rail, Mark Parker, said: \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for people\u2019s patience during this period, while we work on the railway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s vital that these renewals and repairs are completed as they\u2019re essential maintenance to allow the continued safe and reliable running of train services on this busy route.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Essential maintenance to affect services between Bristol, Bath and London<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":18,"featured_media":16990,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[47996],"coauthors":[81],"class_list":["post-16989","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-transport","tag-bristol-and-bath","tag-featured-story"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
