BAE Systems has won a \u00a3285m contract to upgrade the combat systems on Royal Navy vessels.<\/p>\n
The RECODE (Real-time Combat System Open Data Enablers) programme will help support more than 200 jobs, including at the defence giant’s site in Filton.<\/p>\n
Commodore Phil Game, defence equipment and support, Royal Navy, said: \u201cThis programme will ensure our Royal Navy vessels have robust, future-ready combat systems.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy working closely with industry partners, we\u2019re not only enhancing our naval capabilities but also supporting skilled jobs and expertise in the UK defence sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
The work will also be carried out at BAE’s sites in Dorchester, New Malden, Frimley and Portsmouth.<\/p>\n
Last week provided a reminder of the role of the Royal Navy in UK waters.
