A South West engineering business is on course for the strongest 12 months in its 40-year history as demand for electrification, renewable energy and decarbonisation projects continues to escalate.<\/p>\n

Unitary Engineering Services (UES), founded in Bristol in 1986 by engineer Roger Griffiths, has grown from a traditional mechanical and electrical building services contractor into a multidisciplinary engineering business working with clients across the UK.<\/p>\n

Over the past decade, it has expanded its services to meet growing demand for lower-carbon infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Its work now includes solar PV, heat pumps, electric vehicle infrastructure and building electrification alongside its established mechanical and electrical engineering services.<\/p>\n

UES, which employs around 20 people. also achieved B Corp certification as part of its wider focus on environmental and social responsibility.<\/p>\n

Recent work has included a \u00a31.7m multi-phase contact for First Bus\u2019s electrification of its Taunton bus depot, installing a solar PV system at St Vigor and St John Primary School in Chilcompton, Somerset, and bespoke warehouse heating for drinks carton manufacturer Graphic Packaging in Yate, which featured the UK\u2019s first Powrmatic nighttime heat harvesting system.<\/p>\n

Managing director and son of the founder, Adam Griffiths, says the company has changed considerably over the past four decades, but its focus on quality and long-term customer relationships has remained the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great time to be celebrating 40 years, particularly as we\u2019re also on track for our strongest year yet,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen my dad started the business, the industry looked very different. Over the last decade especially, we\u2019ve seen huge changes in the way businesses think about energy, carbon and the infrastructure they need.<\/p>\n

Decarbonisation and electrification are now a major part of what our customers are looking at, so it made sense for us to invest in the skills and technology to support them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve worked hard to adapt to those changes while keeping the same values the business was built on – doing a good job, looking after our people and building relationships with our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that we\u2019re now celebrating 40 years and looking at a record year shows that approach has worked.\u201d<\/p>\n
