A \u00a3100,000 investment has been completed at the Red Lion in Newlyn, Cornwall, following the harbour-side pub’s first summer under new management.<\/p>\n

Pocketful of Stones, the independent Cornish spirits producer and hospitality operator best known for its flagship Caspyn Gin, oversaw the refurbishment with Admiral Taverns after a two-week closure.<\/p>\n

Upgrades include refreshed toilets, a new bar area, work to floors and ceilings, and a new courtyard.<\/p>\n

Mike Cunliffe, co-owner of Pocketful of Stones, said: “The refurbishment has given us the opportunity to refresh the pub’s spaces and create an even more comfortable, enjoyable setting for everyone who visits.<\/p>\n

“It has been brilliant to see the pub busy again, with people coming together over a drink, a meal or a relaxed evening with friends and family.<\/p>\n

“We are grateful for the support Newlyn has shown since we took on the Red Lion, and we are looking forward to building on that momentum in the months ahead.”<\/p>\n

Pocketful of Stones took on the Red Lion with Admiral Taverns after the pub closed at the end of last year.<\/p>\n

The business reopened the site in February 2026 and has built a team led by manager Todd Kyle and assistant manager Lydia Chappell, with chef George Mitchell heading the kitchen.<\/p>\n

The pub is Pocketful of Stones’ third hospitality venue, alongside its Penzance bar and tasting room and Falmouth shop.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2016, the company is marking its 10th anniversary and employs 30 people across production, retail and hospitality.<\/p>\n

Over the past decade, the company says it has sold more than 500,000 bottles and hosted more than 20,000 tasting visitors across its venues.<\/p>\n

In the past 18 months, the business has invested more than \u00a3300,000 in new stills, increasing its production capacity by more than fourfold.<\/p>\n

Admiral Taverns runs around 1,400 community-focused pubs across the UK that are primarily focused on drinks rather than food.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
