An exploration company has completed its first drilling campaign at one of Cornwall’s most important historic mining districts.<\/p>\n
Tamar Minerals drilled two diamond drill holes totalling 1,146.9 metres at the Great Wheal Vor project, testing tin and copper targets identified through digitised historical mine records.<\/p>\n
The programme intersected planned target zones in locations consistent with the company’s geological model, providing validation of both the historical dataset and structural interpretation.<\/p>\n
Core logging and sampling are ongoing, with the first batch of samples dispatched for laboratory analysis.<\/p>\n
Assays are due in mid-December, with a second batch of samples to be submitted shortly.<\/p>\n
Dominic Claridge, chief executive of Tamar Minerals, said: “We are encouraged by the successful completion of our maiden drilling campaign at Great Wheal Vor. While we await laboratory results, reaching each of our intended targets represents an important first step in evaluating the project’s potential.”<\/p>\n
The company cautioned that visual observations and successful target intersections should not be considered an indication of economic mineralisation.<\/p>\n
Assay results will provide the first quantitative assessment of metal grades and distribution within the intercepted zones.<\/p>\n
Tamar Minerals is now advancing exploration plans for the Devon Great Consols project, with drilling targeted for the first quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n
The programme will test the down-dip and down-plunge extensions of copper mineralisation historically exploited across the mining sett.<\/p>\n
The company will use existing resources to fund the work, with drilling operations expected to be managed from the existing core facility.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, White Energy’s subsidiary Amerod Resources continued to progress earn-in expenditure on Tamar’s Specimen Hill project in Australia.<\/p>\n
Under a heads of agreement, Amerod must incur exploration expenditure of AU$2m for a 76% interest in the tenements by February 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
