Traffic Alert: Delays of 90 minutes to M6 north following serious accident

Motorists are being warned of long delays on the M6 north heading towards Birmingham following a serious accident involving five cars and a lorry.

The accident is between Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich) and 6 (A38/Birmingham city centre), with reports of queues back to Junction 4.

One lane remains closed for the recovery of the vehicles involved in the accident.

The accident is not expected to clear until around 1pm and delays are currently estimated at 90 minutes against normal journey times.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area if possible and to allow extra time for their journeys. Highways England has said drivers may opt to use the M6 Toll as a alternative route.
