Traffic Alert: Two hours delays forecast as lorry fire shuts part of M6

Two lanes are closed and delays of around two hours are being forecast on the M6 near Birmingham following a serious lorry fire.

The incident affects the northbound carriageway between Junctions 3 (Coventry) and 4 (Coventry North), with the northbound entry slip road from the M42 all badly congested.

Traffic was earlier halted because of smoke blowing across the carriageway.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area if possible and to allow extra time for their journeys.
