Opening of new railway station delayed

The opening of Worcestershire Parkway train station has been delayed until the new year.
Trains were due to start calling at the new £22m station this month but now passengers will not be able to travel to or from the station until “early next year”.
On its website, Great Western Railway said: “After careful consideration, and in agreement with Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Parkway will now open early in the New Year. We will confirm the specific date as soon as we can.
“Customers booked to travel from Worcestershire Parkway prior to opening may either travel from an alternative nearby station or claim a full refund (with no admin fee deducted) from where you initially purchased your tickets.
“If you purchased your ticket from a different retailer, please check with them directly.”
It added that tickets booked to/from Worcestershire Parkway will also be accepted at Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.
