Revenues slump at West Brom as relegation bites

Player sales at West Bromwich Albion reduced an operating loss of £17m down to £7m, according to newly-filed accounts for 2018/19.
Meanwhile, revenue slumped by £54m, down to £70.8m during the period as relegation from the Premier League brought a fall of £49m in TV revenue. West Brom will see further reductions in this revenue stream of £8m this season and £20m next season unless they are promoted back to the Premier League.
The accounts, which were signed off at the end of December, were only published yesterday (31 March). They showed that the wage bill halved from the 2017/18 season, while staff numbers remained steady.
