LoveBrum co-founder picks up MBE at Windsor Castle

The co-founder of LoveBrum Tim Andrews has been recognised for ‘services to charity and the community in Birmingham’.

The ceremony at Windsor Castle saw him receive his MBE from Princess Anne in an investiture ceremony which was attended by his mum Sandra Andrews.

Andrews said “I am very honoured and humbled to receive this award. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my charitable endeavours. Firstly my family and friends who have supported me along this journey, my LoveBrum co-founders, my business partners who have often stepped in to support me whilst I’m missing from the workplace during my charity work, my fellow trustees, past & present, ambassadors, corporate supporters, fundraisers, volunteers and of course the staff (past and present) at LoveBrum.

“My mum and I had a fantastic day. It was surreal waiting in the Queen’s drawing room to be presented with my MBE. Windsor Castle is stunning and heaped in centuries of Royal History and tradition. And I was very touched that the Princess Royal knew so much about me as a person, as well as so much about what Love Brum is and the work we do.”

Andrews’ dedication to Birmingham and pride in the city inspired him to co-found and chair the local charity LoveBrum, with the sole aim to increase civic pride by unearthing local projects that make the city a better place.

He has raised in excess of £750,000 for local causes by organising and hosting a number of charity events.

Co-founded by Tim Andrews and long-term friend PJ Ellis, LoveBrum supporters vote on live projects and everyone has a say in which projects are supported, meaning all funds raised help to boost the local charitable economy.

Every penny raised from individual memberships and fundraising goes straight to the causes.

Andrews added: “Birmingham is a very special city.  Full of very kind and generous human beings, LoveBrum very much drives but thrives on this unique quality and so therefore I dedicate this very special award to the very special people that have contributed to the success of our great charity.”

As well as heading up LoveBrum, Andrews has forged a successful career and business in Birmingham as chairman of Hollywood Monster, a graphics firm that has become one of the largest in its sector.

In late 2020, he also became a non-executive director for digital agency Lightbox, and joined start-up tech firm Work From Here as a shareholder.

He is also particularly proud of his time as CEO of Birmingham City Ladies Football Club. With his involvement, the team won the FA Cup, reached the semi-finals in the Champions League and became League Cup runners-up several times, as well as runners-up in the FA Women’s Super League. His last game as CEO was watching the Blues’ ladies become runners up in the FA Cup at Wembley.
