Edgbaston signs up hotel agency to accommodate guests

THE home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club has linked up with a hotel booking agency to boost its service offering to guests attending its events.
The new £32m Edgbaston Stadium has secured the services of Ellis Salsby Ltd to source accommodation for guests attending conferences and other events at the venue.
Edgbaston – which unveiled a new exhibition hall, banqueting suite and other meeting and event space in the summer as part of its multi-million pound makeover – is using the Kidderminster-based hotel booking agency to secure preferential rates for customers at leading hotels across the city.
Jamie Nevin, General Manager of Edgbaston Stadium’s Hospitality, Conference & Events division, said: “We’re committed to providing the best possible experience for all clients, and working with Ellis Salsby Ltd ensures their accommodation needs are managed by experts and available at the best price possible.”
The booking agency already offers a similar service at many other recognised venues across Europe.
Ellis Salsby, Managing Director of the agency, said: “The redevelopment of Edgbaston has not only made it one of the leading cricket stadiums in the world, but also one of the most exciting conference and events venues.
“Many leading brands are already staging events at the stadium and we’re looking forward to working with these clients to ensure that our relationship with the city’s leading hotels gives them complete piece of mind ahead of their event.”
The new conference and banqueting centre at Edgbaston was opened in the summer by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. The development transformed the stadium into one of the world’s leading cricket venues and the second biggest in the UK after Lords, with a capacity of 25,000.
