Accord Housing awards Lovell £50m repairs contract

LOVELL, the affordable housing division of Morgan Sindall Group, has been awarded a £50m, 10-year repairs contract by one of the West Midlands’ largest housing associations, the Accord Group.

The deal will see Lovell undertake day-to-day repairs and provide a 24-hour reactive repairs service to Accord’s homes in Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Sandwell.

The contract, which is due to begin in June, is expected to generate savings of £6.2m over the lifespan of the agreement and create 10 new apprenticeships over the life of the contract.

Paul Smith, Chief Executive of Morgan Sindall Group, said: “We are thrilled that Accord Group has chosen Lovell to carry out this repairs contract, not least because the deal will create a number of maintenance apprenticeships over the next 10 years.

“This is a significant contract win, and further underlines the ability of Lovell to deliver first class maintenance and repair services across a broad geographical area.”

Lovell beat 15 competitors to win the 10-year contract from the housing group, which provides 11,000 affordable homes and a range of services to 50,000 people across the Midlands.

Mark England, Head of Corporate Asset Management for the Accord Group, said: “We are delighted to appoint Lovell to carry out our repairs contract and we are confident that they will deliver an excellent service for our thousands of customers.

“Not only has this deal been designed to meet our regulatory requirements, but it will also create a number of maintenance apprenticeships over the next 10 years and training opportunities for our residents.”

Simon Medler, Managing Director for the national Lovell repairs and maintenance business, said: “This significant win for the business recognises our ability to deliver comprehensive, high-quality maintenance and repair services across a wide geographical area. It also demonstrates our continued commitment to expanding our repairs and maintenance offer.

“We are delighted to be working with the Accord Group, its partners and residents. The company is committed to creating wide-ranging and lasting benefits for local people through the new contract, including job and training opportunities and support for community organisations.”

The Accord Group worked closely with residents throughout the contract process, with residents interviewing potential companies and visiting their premises.

Services provided by Lovell include day-to-day responsive repairs, void property refurbishments, programmed maintenance, and electrical and gas installations, servicing and repairs.
