New promotions at RSM Tenon in Birmingham

NEW promotions at RSM Tenon in Birmingham have strengthened the firm’s offering to its corporate and private clients. The appointments also spearhead the firm’s growth plans both in the city, and across the West Midlands.

The promotions see James Carnegie take responsibility for leading the firm’s transaction services team in Birmingham, while in her role as head of employment solutions, Samantha Davies will provide a specialist consultancy service aimed at helping employers manage tax risks and improve the efficiency of employee reward including all forms of pay, expenses and benefits.

Ms Davies said: “I’ve been at RSM Tenon since 2009, but I’ve been a specialist in employment taxes for 27 years. We work with a diverse range of businesses across the region delivering real value.”

Mr Carnegie’s promotion boosts the firm’s expanding corporate finance team in Birmingham. He joined RSM Tenon in 2010 from Wolseley UK where, as part of the in-house mergers and acquisitions team, he managed a range of acquisitions, disposals and strategic initiatives across the UK and Ireland.

He said: “I am looking forward to continuing our growth in the local market. We have developed a strong and experienced team in Birmingham with a focus on the West Midlands market, but at the same time we have the resource and expertise to tackle larger, more complex or internationally based transactions.”

Julian Clough, head of RSM Tenon’s Midlands transaction services team, said: “We are delighted with the progress we have made over the last 18 months and James’ promotion is a reflection of his leadership of the Birmingham team and our on-going commitment to providing  director led, opinion based due diligence to the private equity, banking and corporate marketplaces.

“In some respects the market has been difficult but we have simply found that the shape of transactions has changed and the combination of James’ advisory and corporate experience has been well received by our clients.”

Westerby strengthens before IFA shake-up

STEPHEN Harvey has joined Midlands firm Westerby Group as a Director. With over 30 years’ experience in personal financial planning, retirement strategies, investment advice and employee benefit arrangements, Mr Harvey joins Westerby Group from RSM Tenon.

The firm said the appointment was timely given the current shake-up of the financial services industry and the tougher regulations set to come into force.

He said: “This is a very exciting move for me. Westerby Group is an established company with a fine reputation for solid financial advice.

“Within our trustees business, we anticipate that demand for Westerby’s traditional UK Small Self Administered Schemes (SSAS) and Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP) services will continue and that growth will also come from our overseas pension offering.“
