Too many access to finance events spoil the Black Country broth

A SPECIAL access to finance event organised by the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership has been postponed – because there are too many similar events taking place at the same time.

The sheer number of workshops and seminars on the issue just serves to underline how important it is to the SME sector and to the organisations that support it.

The event had been due to take place on October 12 at the Copthorne Hotel in Dudley.

However, in an unusual move, the LEP has opted to postpone the event.

In a statement it said: “We have been made aware of two other Access to Finance events taking place just weeks either side of October 12 with similar agendas, and therefore have taken the decision to reschedule the event to later on in the year and broaden the agenda to include business support.”

It has apologised for any inconvenience and promised to inform businesses when a new date for the event has been set.

One of the conflicting events is Financing Success in Manufacturing, organised by Sandwell and Dudley Borough Councils. The free event, on September 25 at Himley Hall, near Dudley, is open to all businesses in the Black Country.

It features presentations from the LEP and various fund managers.
