Job losses in the hundreds at Drive Assist

HUNDREDS of jobs are likely to be lost after Tamworth-headquartered vehicle provider Drive Assist went into administration.

The firm, which has 14 offices in Staffordshire and Nottingham, employs 640 people and has made 259 people redundant already, 229 of them in Tamworth.

Drive Assist, which provides cars to people who have had accidents, also owns car rental firm Sol Car Rentals in Tamworth and Millennium Motor Group in Nottingham. Both those firms are now in administration as well.

Of the jobs already lost in Tamworth, some 179 were from the Fazeley site while 50 were going from the Ventura site.

Alastair Beveridge, from Zolfo Cooper, said administration was “the only option available” because the firm had lost a major customer which “had resulted in increasing cash flow pressures”.
