Amadeus rocks after securing £5m London contract

THE catering arm of the NEC Group has secured its first fixed-site contract in London. The £5m deal sees Amadeus provide catering for the London Borough of Camden at its new public services and council offices building in Kings Cross.
This new contract follows a series of high profile contract wins for Amadeus, including Cadbury World, Library of Birmingham and Birmingham Town Hall. It also reinforces the new senior management team’s focus on securing fixed site venues to support its growing client portfolio.
The Kings Cross area is undergoing a huge redevelopment. The Camden council building will house a 100 station community gym, 25m public swimming pool and state of the art library, as well as bringing together most of the council’s service teams under one roof. Amadeus will manage two cafes at the site, one next to the library for members of the public and the other for council staff.
The contract win is a significant step forward in helping Amadeus’ growth strategy and will enable the catering company to strengthen its position as a UK-wide caterer. Amadeus will invest £250,000 to build and equip the cafes for the five-year contract. Camden council will benefit from the deal through an income share.
Amadeus managing director, Kevin Watson, said: “We are extremely excited about this contract and look forward to working in partnership to provide quality food for both residents and council employees. The Kings Cross area is undergoing major changes and we are very pleased to have been successful in securing a contract in one of the capital’s up-and-coming districts. We are looking forward to gaining more business in the area and will be seeking out further growth opportunities.”
Paul Thandi, chief executive of the NEC Group, added: “Amadeus is one of the growth businesses within the NEC Group and I am pleased with the refocusing of that business together with the impressive run of recent wins secured by the new team. Camden is our first fixed-site contract in London and represents a significant step forward for Amadeus and the group. We will be working hard to secure more new business in the area.”
