Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover ramp up Bond fever with new cars

VEHICLE manufacturers Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover have given James Bond fans a tantalising glimpse of their latest products.

The Gaydon-based sports car maker revealed earlier this year that it was producing a strictly limited edition car for the latest Bond film, Spectre, which is out next month.

To ramp up Bond fever ahead of the film’s release the company has produced a short video of the car in action (see video below).

Taking the wheel of the DB10 is Spectre stunt driver Mark Higgins.

The DB10 was developed specifically for Spectre and just 10 examples have been built. The exclusive sports car also celebrates Aston Martin’s half century association with James Bond, which started with the iconic DB5 in Goldfinger.

Led by Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, the design team worked closely with the film’s director, Sam Mendes, to create the ultimate car for the world’s most famous spy.

While produced especially for the film, the DB10 gives a small glimpse into the future design direction for the next generation of Aston Martins.

Dr Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, said earlier this year: “In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond.

“To be partnering once again with EON Productions is great news for this company and for everyone around the world that loves to see Bond at the wheel of an Aston Martin.”

Elsewhere, Jaguar Land Rover has also celebrated its own connection with the famous film franchise.

Vehicles produced by the company have featured in all of the Daniel Craig Bond films and Spectre is no exception.

The Jaguar C-X75 supercar (seen here with film co-star Naomie Harris), the special Range Rover Sport SVR and the iconic Land Rover Defender all feature in the latest film.

All three were displayed in public for the first time at the palatial Thurn und Taxis in Frankfurt, where Jaguar is currently receiving plaudits for its new F-Pace.

Appearing alongside the cars were film co-stars Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) and David Bautista (Hinx).

The film sees the Jaguar C-X75 drive through the moonlit streets of Rome in one of the movie’s high speed chase scenes.   Driven by Hinx, the supercar, named the most advanced Jaguar ever created, was provided by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in collaboration with development partner Williams Advanced Engineering.
