Hygiene group cleans up with acquisition

A HYGIENE products business with an operation in Worcestershire has strengthened its position in the washroom services marketplace with a strategic acquisition.
Zenith Hygiene Group manufactures, supplies and distributes cleaning and hygiene chemicals and products to thousands of firms around the UK. Clients include JD Wetherspoon, Nando’s, HC One Care Homes, Arora Hotels and Amey.
The group, whose Midlands base in located in Droitwich, has acquired ABC Hygiene for an undisclosed sum.
A provider of high-quality washroom services equipment, Zenith said ABC Hygiene would provide it with a new sector of products for customers nationwide.
Founded in 2003 by Oliver Johnson and Karen Rook and based in Hertfordshire, ABC Hygiene provides washroom services across a multitude of sectors such as feminine hygiene, air purification, floor and entrance matting, urinal care, vending solutions and nappy disposal.
The company’s location means it is well positioned to serve the London and Home Counties markets, while it also secures national coverage through its membership of the Independent Washroom Services Association (IWSA) network.
The deal will see ABC Hygiene absorbed under the Zenith Hygiene brand name with director Oliver Johnson remaining in place to oversee operations and the transition.
Ringo Francis, group CEO, Zenith Hygiene said “We are delighted to welcome Oliver and his team to the growing Zenith family. The washroom services market is experiencing substantial growth at the moment, and ABC Hygiene’s operations and specialist knowledge in this area perfectly complement our current offering.”
Mr Johnson added: “We are really excited to be joining Zenith Hygiene and I know it will be a great fit for us. We both have strong customer bases and have honed our unique industry knowledge to meet their ever changing needs and market demands.”
Zenith has more than 3,200 customers across the UK, which range from independent owner-managed businesses, to large national operators. Sectors include food and beverage manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, leisure and facilities management. The firm was named one of the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ in the third edition of a report put out by the London Stock Exchange in February 2016.
The group has said it will continue to seek out targeted and selective acquisitions which can potentially add further value to the business.
