Ale Rooms breathes life into former undertakers

A NEW ale room and wine bar will be brought to life in Warwickshire this weekend at a site where bodies were once prepared for burial and cremation.

The undertakers located on Knowle’s High Street, has been refurbished into the Ale Rooms following a £100,000 investment and opens today(Friday).

Ale Rooms is the first venture for local businessman, Mark Caldicott – who swapped the corporate life to open and run a bar with his wife Amanda.

“I’ve wanted to run my own bar for a number of years so when the opportunity came to take the lease on this property I jumped at it,” he said.

“I know the area very well and am keen to provide a premium venue which will appeal to both men and women who are looking to enjoy a drink with friends in a friendly, intimate setting.”

With the hope of filling a gap in the village’s hospitality market, the Ale Rooms will offer a range of exclusively brewed beers, cask ales, wines and a beer takeaway service.

Champagne, Prosecco, artisan rums, gins and vodkas and premium bottled lagers and ciders will also be served at the venue and customers looking for a bite to eat, will be able to enjoy a range of pies from the Pieminister menu.
