Chamberlin swoops on assets of failed door maker

BLACK Country engineering group Chamberlin has expanded with the acquisition of certain assets and the intellectual property of doors firm Jebron Ltd.

The Walsall company has not had to look far to grow its business, just into neighbouring Wednesbury, where Jebron is based.

Jebron, which designs and supplies high performance door closers, had been in administration and Chamberlin has paid £162,000 to complete the deal.

Chamberlin said the purchase was a “highly complementary addition” to its Cannock-based engineering subsidiary, Exidor, which supplies emergency exit hardware.

It said the assets and IP acquired from Jebron would enhance Exidor’s product offering and the acquisition was expected to be fully integrated very quickly.

Additional costs of up to £100,000 are expected to be incurred in the current year as integration begins.

Tim Hair, Chamberlin chief executive, said: “We are pleased to have purchased these assets and the intellectual property of Jebron.  They will enhance our engineering subsidiary, Exidor’s product offering and, most importantly, they should add over £1m of profitable revenues to the subsidiary after integration is completed.”
