£2bn of supplier contracts announced for new Range Rover Evoque

JAGUAR Land Rover today announced that 40 UK companies would share more than £2bn worth of supply contracts for the new’baby’ Range Rover model, the Evoque.
The boost for the supply chain was hailed by business secretary Vince Cable who joined Jaguar Land Rover chief exec Dr Ralf Speth at the company’s manufacturing plant at Halewood near Liverpool, which is making the Evoque, due for launch in July.
Dr Cable said: “Today’s news shows that the UK automotive supply chain is capable of winning major contracts and creating vital jobs in UK.”
Dr Speth added: “We are the largest investor in automotive research and development and engineering in this country and as today’s announcement shows, we generate billions of pounds of economic activity here every year.”
JLR is investing in advanced research, design and technical innovation with key strategic partners which together today’s £2bn of contract announcements will mean the creation of thousands more skilled jobs in the UK automotive supply chain.
Companies named as suppliers benefitting from today’s announcement include International Automotive Components which has sites in Birmingham and the North West, Birmingham-based Sertec Group, which is supplying exhaust tailpipe trims and sidestep runners for the new Evoque.
