George Green completes four deals in four weeks

BLACK Country law firm George Green is benefiting from cash-rich companies looking to expand their business through high quality acquisitions.

The activity is underlined by the Cradley Heath firm’s corporate team, which has completed four complex deals in as many weeks.

The first of these saw the team advise on the sale of Chesterfield based LYNXS Shredder to the Italian steel and engineering giant Danieli Group for an undisclosed amount.

Hot on the heels of this, the team acted for long standing client Ian Guest Holdings in its acquisition of Sherwood Truck and Van. Sherwood operates an Iveco and Fiat commercial vehicle franchise from Stoke, Nottingham, Sheffield and Alfreton.

Next the team acted for Tony, Anthony and Chris Weaver is relation to the sale of two thirds of USS Ltd, a steel slitting and processing company based in Halesowen to a joint venture company incorporated by Stemcor Holdings and Angang International Trade Corp.

This deal, again for an undisclosed amount, could mean massive potential growth for USS, as Stemcor are the world’s largest independent steel-trader and Angang is a Chinese state-owned steel manufacturer and the second largest steel manufacturer in China.

 
The final deal saw the corporate team advise Equiniti Holdings on the acquisition of 360 Clinical, a company which provides online appraisal systems for the medical profession. The deal has expanded Equiniti’s specialist outsourced IT-based services.

Partner Guy Green said the deals represented healthy business for the firm and indicated cash-rich companies were on the look-out for potentially value enhancing acquisitions.

“Firms in Birmingham are mainly dealing with leveraged and structured finance deals. The type of business we are dealing with involves corporates with strong cash resources and therefore deals can be completed without large debt transactions,” he said.

“While activity levels have yet to fully recover, we continue to experience solid business across all sectors and expect this to continue for the remainder of the year.”
