Allied acquires homecare business for £2.5m

STAFFORDSHIRE employment services firm Allied Healthcare has acquired ScotHomecare for £2.5m.

ScotHomecare, based in Old Kilpatrick, is a domiciliary homecare business with 10 UK branches, delivering more than 10,000 care hours per week for the elderly and disabled.

Allied Healthcare, based in Stone near Stafford, operates a community-based network of approximately 120 branches, including eight in the West Midlands, providing carers, nurses and medical personnel.

It claims revenues in excess of £170m and is now the largest provider of domiciliary care in Scotland following this deal, on which it was advised by law firm Mills & Reeve.

Allied’s chief financial officer Paul Weston said: “The ScotHomecare acquisition is in line with our strategy of expanding Allied’s geographic footprint.

“The transaction will provide Allied with a market leading position in Scotland.

“We were supported by the corporate legal team at Mills & Reeve who demonstrated a high level of commitment to ensure we successfully completed the transaction and they provided sound commercial advice tailored to our specific interests.”

The Mills & Reeve team was led by corporate partner Julian Smith and associate Stephen Hamilton.

Kathleen Stewart WS advised the sellers, Brodies provided Scottish advice to Allied and Shepherd & Wedderburn advised Bank of Scotland.
