Expansion for Evesham’s Wellpak

EVESHAM-based fresh produce supplier Wellpak has announced expansion plans on the back of funding support from HSBC to buy land and develop new premises.

The new facilities will enable Wellpak, which has increased its turnover 65% over the past two years, to dedicate one site to its soft fruit operation and another to the different needs of its exotic vegetables and legumes operation. This will improve productivity and strengthen its sales flow, the company says.

The HSBC team, led by international commercial manager Emma Hallam, put together a new commercial mortgage package and will continue to provide support to the business.

Robert Kelly, director of Wellpak, said: “The funding that HSBC supplied will enable us to expand our output, supporting our growth strategy and build on the success of recent years. HSBC’s expertise and global connectivity is an important part of our relationship and our continued business success.”

Roy Harris, regional commercial director for HSBC in the Midlands, said: “The economic environment is improving but businesses still face challenges. Wellpak is a shining example of a business that has an ambitious growth strategy and has identified investment opportunities to deliver that strategy. We are delighted to be providing the funding to support their ambitions and look forward to a long and successful relationship with the company.”

Founded in 1995, Wellpak imports fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world, supplying a range of UK supermarkets and discounters with fresh produce all year round.

Recognised as an industry leader in creative supply solutions across its field of expertise, the company takes pride in the ongoing successful relationships they have built with their individual buyers and works across the Fairtrade, Assured Food Standard and BRC accreditations.
